The complication of diet has never made sense to me. I have had an ear waxed clogged of diet extremes dwelling in California. Eat garlic. Do not eat garlic. Carrots bad. Potato’s horrible. Milk a travesty. Eggs, do not even ask. I refused to stop eating eggs. Beginning in the eighties, the rumor spread like a supreme court ruling, eggs are bad, very bad, no terrible. The yolk yikes, horrific, cholesterol and fat an abomination, “health perts” would lament for years to come. Ordering eggs out among witnesses, demanded immediate prosecution, met with free persecution. Egg-eaters would find themselves forced to apologize, followed by lengthy explanations of why they were not going to die upon ingesting two eggs sunny-side up. Forget the greasy bacon, forget the yeasty biscuits, forget the fried pork sausages, and forget the butter dripping hash browns, one’s suns of yolk were the devil. Straight sons of the devil, a bastion of evil glaring back on one’s plate. And it was only time before its white bouncy frameless friend was impeached, maligned, and guilty of malicious malevolent intent as well.

This writer’s gut did not concur with the egg edict. I am morning on two Happy soft yolky eggs on sourdough toast, sprinkled with crushed sea salt and black peppercorns, while creating this blog. The fast food of ancients, the egg is a simple scrumptious protein and fat. One can eat it on the run. One can eat it for a snack. One can eat it for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. It wraps perfect. It packs perfect. It proportions perfect. One can bake it, blend it, boil it, grill it, fry it, poach it, scramble it, steam it, or swallow it raw. It is the omnipresent, omni-affordable, omni-diverse utilitarian egg, for all level-headed egg eating sane people’s sanity sake. Houston do we really have an egg problem?

I collected eggs. Throughout my childhood, I collected eggs every rooster crow, in a walk-in, walk-up ruby red chicken coup. Warm egg after egg, plucked from under mother hen’s cozy feathers. Fried eggs, poached eggs, soft-boiled eggs, hard-boiled eggs, eggs in cake, eggs in crust, eggs in hash, eggs on toast, eggs for crowfast, eggs in a sack, eggs for a snack, eggs in supper’s soup. We ate eggs. We decorated eggs. I peddled brown, white, and speckled eggs in my rusty red wagon for seventy-five cents a carton. Around the block, I would pull and stop, ringing doorbells, and knocking on doors. Eggs were a part of this writer’s existence, that waddled into my adulthood. How could eggs go so very wrong? How did mankind not know this until present? How can people be so smart today and so dumb yesterday? I kept eating eggs. Decades of egg condemnation have passed and surprise eggs are back, except in vegan country. Brain doctors sing egg songs of vindication. They report that eggs contribute to vital neurological functions found in their cholesterol. Good news, brains work better with cholesterol. Yolks are exonerated. Eggs are not evil. Other egg nutrients, like collagen and biotin, were found to be not so bad either. Perhaps mankind’s egg eating ancestors were further evolved?

One’s physical body is made up of hidden systems, hidden from the naked eye. As a human, one has a viewable tent made up of skin, structured bones, muscles, joints, decorated with hair, nails, eyes and skin tones in a rainbow of colors and texture variations. One’s tent identifies the person. That is who, one beholds as “me“ in the mirror. This is whom, others see as “thee“, when beholding one. One’s tent resembles an Old Fashioned, a bit of bitters, muddled with a cube of sweetness, sprinkled with a twist of sour, bourbon-ed with notes. Depending upon how, one has managed their lifestyle, genetics, and circumstances, in other words, their muddle of years, imbibes daily on how one’s concoction tastes.

SOS brings order to one, and what one has control over. Streamline, Organize, & Stylize seeks to bring order to one’s physical body, so that one’s tent of flesh, works for one, not against one. Thus, one’s body flows in symmetry, with one’s daily tasks, passions, and purposes. Order to one’s body, is not as obscure as it may seem. The body tent is a masterpiece cloaked in a mystery of mysteries. Humanity has endured with simple biological, physiological and chemical laws. Laws meaning one cannot circumvent these universal truths. The body needs h2o, grub, sun, air, rest, movement, and evacuation. Let one not complicate the simple with modernity. The human tent has required these elements, from the beginning. Whether living in caves, Bedouin tents, grass huts, log cabins, medieval castles, New York lofts, suburban track-homes, teepees, trendy tree-houses, or a yurt, the human tent needs remain the same. These vitals needs for the body are what make one human. Vitals are what make humans relatable to one another. One can be eighty, or eight years old. One can be 6’4 or 4’6. Everyone hungers and thirsts. Everyone stuffs and fluffs. Everyone blubbers and bawls. Everyone whimpers and wines. Everyone giggles and guffaws. Everyone chuckles and chortles. One can be the beauty or the beast. One can be lux with plush, or blush with not much. One can peel cocoa mocha, lemon cello, or pink pastry. One’s lens may focus onyx, sapphire, amber, topaz, jade, or emerald. One’s mug may mirror sharp angels, or soft circles. Humanness remains in parallel harmony to the same tent requirements, from sunrise to sunset. Everyone needs sleep. Everyone needs bread. Everyone needs the ceramic pot. Everyone needs to move. One cannot escape these human vitals for long.

The tent’s needs are not complex. Complex comes to the tent, when one ignores its vitals. Vitals are interconnected, when one lacks the others are affected. Tent’s demands are non-exclusive, non-escapable, nor secret. Human vitals are not a respecter of persons. The tent’s needs are universal, to those born of women. They were straightforward requirements to ancient man. In convoluted condescension, the enlightened culture has convinced one to believe the care of the tent is complicated. Ancient man had a bit more wisdom in seeing the vital as vital. They knew that the vitals were an unmitigated priority. Without doctors, pharmacists, college professors, diplomas, health books, social media trends, and web conspiracies, the vitals were preserved.

Why Be PRESENT?

TIME KEEPS TICKING. Tick tock. Tick tock. Tick tock. Time does not stop. One hears it when one’s alarm glockenspiels at dawn. One hears it dashing from appointment to appointment to appointment. One hears it sitting in traffic. One hears it when one’s child’s first tooth falls out. One hears it when inches of love pour over one’s belt. One hears it before the dinner hour when one has no ingredients to cook. One hears it when one peers into a magnified mirror. One hears it when the bills are due that one swears were paid last week. As a human, one cannot ignore the chronos demands of time. Chronos time claws at one’s humanity, hour by hour declaring the clock is in charge. Chronos time represents the seconds, hours, days, months, years of the tick-tock.

Kairos time, in contrast to the clock, is in the eternal present. Epiphany explodes at a kairos moment. Kairos is the exact moment when opportunity intersects with impact. One of the ancient etymologies of this term is rooted in the sport of archery, describing the exact point of time in which an arrow pierces its target. WHOOSH! SMACK! BAM! This pinpoint moment of impact pressed into a spark of eternal present. (E14) The instant one atom splits into two, creating a nuclear explosion. The exact moment of fission, chronological time evaporates and time stands still. Nuclear fission is an apt metaphor for the power the present has in one’s life.

Kairos time also denotes dwelling in the present. The intersection of impact between souls, creation, thoughts, and things. The point at which a mother’s womb releases her newborn. The point when a man first kisses the woman that will be his wife. When chronological time intersects with an opportune moment, it is the moment of now. Babies abide in kairos time. Dogs reside in kairos time. Both have inner clocks given to food, sleep, and play schedules, but they dwell in the “now”. This present moment, not yesterday, not tomorrow, not what happened before their breastfeeding, nor what is going to happen after their bone munching? With no apology, they celebrate kairos time.

People worship chronological time. People diminish present time. Advanced peoples peer down at the simple folk that click not, nor have complicated schedules. Simple is below. Complex is above. Complex is more. Simple is less. Yet, there is liberty living in the simple moment. There reigns a silent emancipation from the burdens and circumstances of one’s humanity when soaking in the present. It is human. The writer would argue an insatiable human need. The need for the arrow to hit its target. The moment a thread enters, while exiting the eye of the needle. A need when neglected, ignored, and foregone forces humanity to seek other ways to mask the natural craving for now. People mask with deceptive counterfeits of busy, chaos, distraction, disease, addiction, rush, stress, strife, more of the too much and the never enough.

As one continues to surrender to the demands of Chronos time, the simple joys of kairos time become more and more cloaked in mystery. The distracted soul denies the intangible benefits of the present. This silence is frivolous. This slow Sunday, to surmise, is a waste. One needs to know what is trending on facechat-instatweet-snaptube, seeking the next digital devour. One must startle stop this coffee klatch, lunch munch, dinner meeting, religious service, reunion, birthday, birthing, wedding to reply to this text, post, gmail, email, chat, meme, mess-age, retweet or what will happen – a moment of peace might happen. Chronos demands a response. Present time is. Present time is a foreign concept for the: lunch at one’s desk, breakfast in one’s car, communicate while in the grocery line, meetings during one’s commute, lab top crunching, errand running, mall shopping, car washing, party this, holiday that weekend into weeks, into months into years, West to grasp. One overlooks the frailty of one’s being. One exalts the nonstop. One binges on digital delicacies from dawn to dusk, through dark to daylight. One treads on a mill, grinding one into a meal that never ends. Then one wonders why so many are sick, sleepy, and strained?

Order produces purpose. Order establishes focus. Order prepares one. Order puts one in a state of readiness. One does not wonder, the where is, the what for, and the whatnot. Purpose and preparedness removes the worry of wondering from one’s state of mind. Knowing where things are provides peace. Anxiety births when one cannot find their cell phone charger, keys to the truck, that bill, a clean uniform, an unused diaper, their favorite boots. Fill in the treasured item, space schedule, or self that is out of order. Surmise the stress that disorder causes? Disorder distracts focus. Anxiety begets stress, and stress begets tension. How many moments during the day, week, month, year does lack of order beget mental anguish? The negative consequences of chaos wreak havoc. Physical health, emotional health, household health, relational health, professional health, holiday health gets sabotaged by disorder.

Order creates time. When one is flowing in order, time appears. Time to pursue soul builders like a skill, sport, hobby, nurturing children, a beloved relationship, training a pet, more sleep, some exercise, reading a good book, shabbat-ing, a holiday weekend. Time slips. Order brings more time and more focused time. The kind of time when one is present. Order creates focus. Disorder creates distraction. As to why people do not get organized? They say they do not have the time. Upfront, it takes time. Anything worth anything takes time. Order works for time, not against time. More time is a benefit.

STRAIN ONE'S THOUGHTS

One exits the womb naked; one departs life naked, and in between, one has a lot of thoughts. Some quaint, some witty, some splendid, some brilliant, but way, too many thoughts are hi-emo, lo-emo, nonsensical, indefensible, bitter, cruel, cantankerous, worrisome, and wrathful. This is why the reader is encouraged to have a sharp mental strainer to Streamline out the IUD’s in their Fallujah of thoughts. One cannot run from them. One cannot hide from them. One confronts them.

Self-emotions may be the most powerful influence on how one thinks about themselves. This is the self-perception paradigm how one defines oneself. One may misinterpret their self-worth by how other people have misunderstood them in some way or another. It is not uncommon that when the chips are down, others chip away at the downed. When chipped down by others, this also influences one’s self-perception. Do not let others define one. Others may define one for a moment, but one’s perception, towards oneself, defines one over a lifetime.

As one begins to Streamline out mind grenades by applying their mental strainer, one replaces their grenades with a re-Organization of congruent and positive thoughts about oneself. Unlike other spaces one may SOS, one’s mind space is in a category of its own. It is not a job that will go away, either. Be kind to oneself with this process. It is advisable to focus on one area in one’s thought life at a time. Shifting mindsets and attitudes about oneself is a deliberate turtle dart, won inch by inch as a shift is gained. Be assured, there is a tropical beach of sunny mindsets and coasting attitudes waiting for the diligent turtle.
